Biography

Prof. Timothy (Lal Lian Khum) was born into a devout Christian family, the son of a minister, and was raised in an environment deeply rooted in biblical teachings and values. From a young age, he was instructed by his parents and Sunday school teachers about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. While he understood these truths intellectually, the personal significance of Christ’s atoning work had not yet taken root in his heart. That changed in 2006 during a children's camp, where he was deeply convicted of his sinful nature and came to the life-transforming realization that human effort alone could never earn God’s favor. It was there that he fully understood the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and, by God’s grace, accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. This marked the beginning of his spiritual journey. A year later, in a public declaration of his faith, he was baptized by Rev. Ling Mana.

Following his high school graduation, Prof. Timothy responded to God’s call on his life by pursuing formal theological education. In 2010, he enrolled at Gospel Baptist Bible Seminary (GBBS), where he laid a strong foundation in biblical studies and ministry, eventually earning his Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) degree in 2014. Committed to deepening his understanding of Scripture and preparing for greater ministry responsibilities, he went on to study at Berean Baptist Bible College and Seminary in Bangalore, India, where he completed his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in 2016. Driven by a continued passion for theological excellence and leadership development, he later pursued and obtained a Master of Theology (M.Th.) degree in 2019 from Maranatha Baptist Bible College and Seminary, also in Bangalore. Besides, Prof. Timothy is currently doing doctorate program at MEGST.

Prof. Timothy began his teaching ministry in 2019, initially serving as a part-time lecturer at Gospel Baptist Bible Seminary and other local theological institutions. His passion for teaching, combined with his academic and pastoral experience, led to his official appointment as a full-time faculty member at GBBS in 2022—a significant milestone in his ministry journey. As an educator and mentor, his vision is to train and equip the next generation of Christian leaders to be Christ-like in character, sound in doctrine, and passionate about evangelism and church planting throughout Myanmar. His commitment to biblical education and discipleship reflects his deep desire to see the Gospel advance through well-prepared, faithful servants of Christ.
