GOSPEL BAPTIST BIBLE SEMINARY - GBBS
Biography
Prof. Esther Van Khaw Mawi was born and raised in Kalay Myo, Myanmar, in a Christian family where she was nurtured in the knowledge of the Lord from an early age. In 1995, while still young, she came to a personal understanding of her need for salvation and wholeheartedly accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. This early conversion laid a firm foundation for her spiritual journey and lifelong commitment to ministry.

Following her successful completion of the national matriculation exam in 2001, she responded to God’s call on her life by pursuing theological education. In June 2002, she enrolled at Gospel Baptist Bible Seminary (GBBS) in Yangon, where she dedicated herself to studying God’s Word and Christian education. After four years of rigorous academic and spiritual formation, she graduated in February 2006 with a Bachelor of Religious Education (B.R.E.). Determined to deepen her theological and pedagogical knowledge, she moved to India in August 2006 to attend Berean Baptist Bible College and Seminary in Bangalore. There, she completed her Master of Religious Education (M.R.E.) in 2008, equipping her with the tools necessary to serve the Church through teaching and discipleship.

In March 2009, Prof. Esther returned to GBBS to begin her ministry as a Bible teacher. Since then, she has faithfully served in this capacity, focusing primarily on courses related to religious education and the in-depth study of selected biblical books. Her teaching is characterized by a deep reverence for Scripture, a love for students, and a passion for spiritual formation. Over the years, she has played a vital role in equipping and mentoring young men and women for ministry, guiding them to grow not only in knowledge but also in Christlike character.

Prof. Esther considers it both an honor and a sacred calling to invest in the next generation of Christian leaders. With unwavering commitment, she seeks to lead her students to walk in the will of God and live lives that reflect His holiness. Her greatest desire is to see them become faithful ministers of the Gospel—rooted in Scripture, devoted to service, and empowered to transform their communities for Christ. As long as the Lord allows, she remains committed to this mission with humility, joy, and steadfast faith.
