Biography
Childhood
Born on February 8, 1978, Prof. Kei Sel Thang was raised in a deeply devoted Christian home. His father, Pastor Gideon Lal Biak Thang, was a committed servant of the Lord, ministering at Gospel Baptist Church. Growing up in a pastoral family, he was immersed in Christian teachings, biblical doctrine, and church life from an early age. Though the life of a ministry family often brought unique challenges, he viewed it as a blessing and formative experience. He fondly remembers observing his father's dedication to pastoral care and leadership, which left a lasting impression on his spiritual and personal development.

Conversion
Although he was brought up in a strong Christian environment and trained well in faith and practice, he did not initially possess assurance of personal salvation. That changed in April 1987, when Sayamah Tuah Sung conducted a children’s salvation course at his church. Through her guidance, he came to understand the necessity of personal faith and fully accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. A year later, in 1988, he publicly professed his faith through baptism, administered by Pastor Joshua Hrang Kip Zul at the Zonuam Spiritual Festival—an event that marked the official beginning of his journey as a born-again believer.

Dedication to Ministry
Following his conversion, his passion for sharing the Gospel became evident. He eagerly witnessed to his classmates and friends, even when faced with opposition. Despite being warned by his school principal to refrain from evangelizing within school grounds, he continued to share Christ outside the classroom. His commitment to the ministry deepened, and he felt God calling him to serve in a full-time capacity. Though he initially struggled with passing his matriculation exams, he persevered and eventually succeeded—paving the way for his entry into theological education.

Education
Recognizing the importance of sound biblical training for effective ministry, he enrolled at Gospel Baptist Bible Seminary (GBBS) in June 1998. There, he earned his Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.), equipping him with a strong foundation in biblical studies and pastoral ministry. Driven by a desire to grow deeper in theological understanding, he later moved to Bangalore, India, where he pursued advanced degrees at Berean Baptist Bible College and Seminary. He successfully completed both a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and a Master of Theology (M.Th.), graduating in March 2006. These academic years were not only intellectually enriching but also spiritually formative.

Ministry
Upon his return to Myanmar in June 2006, he immediately began serving as a faculty member at Gospel Baptist Bible Seminary, where he continues to teach to this day. Over the years, he has taught a range of theological subjects, but his greatest passion lies in teaching Biblical Greek. He finds joy in exploring the original language of the New Testament and helping students discover the richness and precision of Scripture. His love for teaching, especially in Greek exegesis, reflects his deep commitment to biblical truth and theological education.
